Etherley Parish Council

Historical Society

We are a small group of local residents who have an interest in the rich and varied history of the area in which we live. 

The society’s annual programme usually consists of 4 events. 

The yearly subscription is £10 per person, but individuals may pay £3 per event. New members are always welcome. Please see below our programme of events for this year.

Tuesday 12th February – 7.00p.m. – Etherley Methodist Church 
The First World Cup’ by John Thelan. 

Tuesday 21st May 6.30p.m.- Meet at the Town Hall Bishop Auckland
‘Guided walk round Bishop Auckland market place ’ by Pat Robbins from the Auckland Trust 

Tuesday 10th September – 7.00p.m. At Etherley Methodist Church
‘Hardwick Park’ by Tony Smith, Chairman of the Friends of Hardwick Park. The talk will cover the restoration of the Park and the recovery of the portrait of John Burdon (the founder of the park) ‘
